Located in the Kessler Park area, the owners purchased the property primarily for its location. An existing retaining wall stood at the edge of the lot with the front yard seven feet above the street. A small sixty year old house and attached garage occupied the lot. The existing retaining wall was removed and the front yard was extensively regraded. A partial retaining wall, terraced planters, and a series of steps leading from the driveway to the front porch were added. The house was extensively remodeled and expanded, more than doubling its size. The ground floor living area wraps around a central winding staircase, leading to a large open loft on the upper floor.
